Kingsmount Home
Bringing a modern update to a historic century home presents a unique set of challenges, but it’s a task we approach with enthusiasm and expertise. Our specialty lies in seamlessly blending the old with the new, and the Kingsmount project is a testament to this skill. Situated in one of Toronto’s cherished Beaches neighbourhoods, this renovation focused on reimagining the first floor of a classic residence.
We began by gutting the existing kitchen and reworking the layout to create a more open and functional culinary space. The living and dining areas were dramatically enhanced by elevating the ceilings, which not only increased the sense of openness but also allowed for a more fluid and airy atmosphere. All flooring was updated to a pre-finished white oak to complement the fresh design, contributing to the home’s rejuvenated aesthetic.
The traditional fireplace was upgraded with an elegant marble surround, serving as a sophisticated focal point in the room. The front entrance and staircase received a complete overhaul, incorporating custom white oak cabinetry that elegantly integrates storage while defining the staircase area. New oak spindles were added to enhance the flow of light throughout the space, and the stairway entrance was strategically repositioned to the side of the dining room, optimizing the overall layout. The result is a bright, functional space that exudes both character and modern charm, perfectly marrying historical elements with contemporary design.
